Whole School Homework ~ October 2011
Favourite ‘Book in a Bag’ Challenge!
For this year’s homework challenge we asked the whole school to be creative. Every child was given a paper bag and the challenge was to decorate the bag to show people what their favourite book is and put clues about the book inside the bag.
Alligator Tails and Crocodile Cakes Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
As usual, we were not disappointed with the results. We had wonderful entries from the nursery children all the way through to Primary 7. The Book Bags were on display at our Open Evening and what a creative and colourful sight! What talented and inventive children we have here at Riverside!

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Charlotte's Web
This challenge linked one of our literacy priorities and with Curriculum for Excellence.
“I regularly select and read, listen to or watch texts which I enjoy and find interesting, and I can explain why I prefer certain texts and authors.” LIT 1-11a/LIT 2-11a It encouraged everyone to enjoy reading and talk about favourite books and authors and from what we have seen and heard, it was a huge success and fun was had by all (parents, as much as the children!).

I hate School Mr Gum and the Biscuit Billionarire
(Enjoyed the book, but do not agree
with the title!)
